Garden Update

The weather and my schedule have not been cooperating with my garden plans. :( I finally have time to get out in the garden, and it has been raining every day!! Some time back, I thought that this might happen and I prepared a little bit by starting some seeds in doors in little homemade seed pots made from newspaper.108_0902
I planted squash, zuchinni, 4 kinds of pumpkins, 4 kinds of gourds, cucumbers, watermelon, cantaloupe, eggplant. Almost everything has sprouted and is looking good! I took a picture of the cute little things but it has disappeared on me and now it’s too dark outside to take one. I’ll try again tomorrow…
I have potatoes cut and ready to go in if the ground will dry out and a bed full of Blue Lake Green Beans.
The strawberries got weeded, enriched and mulched a while back too

and look what I harvested today! Yum!!!!  114_1113  114_1114
Smoothies and Strawberry Shortcake are in my very near future!!
I started weeding this area today.

It’s the front of my  garden and where I plan to have a bird and butterfly area for my son! While weeding I found some “volunteer” dill that has come up from two years ago!  114_1115
I transplanted some to a clay pot. I’ve always wanted to have herbs in clay pots on my kitchen windowsill. This year  I’m determined to do it!
I passed my rose bush this morning and it's covered in blooms! I love the way the bud is right under the full bloom!

Tomorrow I will “lose” my gardening time (and it’s supposed to be sunny) as it’s my birthday and my sisters-in-law and mom-in-law want to take me to lunch…one sister mentioned taking me shopping for plants…sounds like a really good trade off to me! LOL
Today I was tickled to have my Tipsy Planter featured by Jessica over at Mad in Crafts. If you haven’t already, check out her fun, crafty blog!
