****Update August 26, 2010****
I am so excited to have this finished! There was a time that I didn't even know what Pottery Barn was, and then, I entered blogland and saw all the PB knockoff's and PB inspired, and I was hooked!!! After seeing some of the PB inspired spring and Easter decor knockoffs, I had to go and see for myself what they had to offer. I found these and fell in love!
The "smaller" dish on the pedestal made me think small, like candy dish, but when I read the description, it's not that small. It's demensions are 12.5" by 8.5". You can learn alot by reading descriptions! I had already made up my mind that it was small, so I wanted small! I found a small bowl and white candle while thrifting with my buddy Bretta and I was almost ready to get started. Finding a little ceramic bird was not as easy. I checked Hobby Lobby, Joann's, Walmart and every place in between but all the birds were the feathery type. I was almost ready to give up on the idea when I found this at my $ General Store!
A couple of coats of Rustoleum white primer and gloss white and I now have a little birdie for the bird bath!
Again...I was sooo excited that I forgot to take before pictures! Oh well, it can't be too hard to imagine that the birdbath was once a white candle stick and a small white bowl. Now, the two are one with the help of some Gorilla superglue. The superglue is also holding the bird on the side of the bowl and I am amazed that it bonded so quickly and has held so well at the angle the bird is "perched". My birdbath is about 5" high and 6 1/2" wide, not including the bird. I have filled it with foil covered-chocolate eggs.
I would never have seen myself falling for white dishes and birds...but I have! I'm getting ready to start a Ballard Inspired bird project for my 11 yearo-old son, who loves to bird watch!
I'm linking my first ever "PB inspired" project to these fun parties:
