Pottery Barn Inspired Challenge @The CSI Project

I almost missed the deadline again! Last week I missed entering the CSI Project’s Spray Paint Challenge, and I spray paint almost everything…I was determined not to miss the PB Challenge, cause PB knock offs are some of my favorite projects! Well I barely made it as the challenge closes at noon today…
I am entering my Bird Bath Candy Dish from back in March!!

When I went to enter, I was distracted at all the amazing projects!! My “to-do” list just got miles longer! Go check them out here!
Don’t blame me if you spend a week there! :-)

PB Inspired Bird Bath Candy Dish

****Update August 26, 2010****

I am entering this project over at the CSI Project. for their "Pottery Barn Inspired" Challenge!

Visit thecsiproject.com

I am so excited to have this finished!  There was a time that I didn't even know what Pottery Barn was, and then, I entered blogland and saw all the PB knockoff's and PB inspired, and I was hooked!!! After seeing some of the PB inspired spring and Easter decor knockoffs, I had to go and see for myself what they had to offer. I found these and fell in love!

The "smaller" dish on the pedestal made me think small, like candy dish, but when I read the description, it's not that small. It's demensions are 12.5" by 8.5". You can learn alot by reading descriptions! I had already made up my mind that it was small, so I wanted small! I found a small bowl and white candle while thrifting with my buddy Bretta and I was almost ready to get started. Finding a little ceramic bird was not as easy. I checked Hobby Lobby, Joann's, Walmart and every place in between but all the birds were the feathery type. I was almost ready to give up on the idea when I found this at my $ General Store!
A couple of coats of Rustoleum white primer and gloss white and I now have a little birdie for the bird bath!
Again...I was sooo excited that I forgot to take before pictures! Oh well, it can't be too hard to imagine that the birdbath was once a white candle stick and a small white bowl. Now, the two are one with the help of some Gorilla superglue. The superglue is also holding the bird on the side of the bowl and I am amazed that it bonded so quickly and has held so well at the angle the bird is "perched". My birdbath is about 5" high and 6 1/2" wide, not including the bird. I have filled it with foil covered-chocolate eggs.

I would never have seen myself falling for white dishes and birds...but I have! I'm getting ready to start a Ballard Inspired bird project for my 11 yearo-old son, who loves to bird watch!

I'm linking my first ever "PB inspired" project to these fun parties:

My Copycat Pottery Barn Inspired Pillows

Okay, I jumped on the bandwagon of the Pottery Barn inspired pillows! I saw these:

Over at Domestically Speaking and the very next day I found a similar sweater at the Thrift store!   I also found a black one with a really unique texture and the pillow forms....the pillow forms were 1/2 price and only cost .50 a piece!! That was all the inspiration that I needed! Here they are before:

.....Well there should be a picture HERE of the sweaters and pillow forms BUT some how it's been deleted from my camera! :(....

SO here they are AFTER:

I want to find swearters in hot pink and  lime green and fuzzy to make to some for my daughters' room!

Then I saw these over at Strictly Homade:

I wanted to make some to coordinate with my new bedding set, so I bought coordinating fabric, piping and I thought ribbon...but the ribbon was a fail, it was "off" just enough to be really bad, and it wasn't wide enough. :( So here are my pillows, inspired by, but not looking anything like, PB's. Just made with my two hands and my daughter's sewing machine! I haven't sewn in years! It was fun!

After sitting in the oral surgeon's office for two and a half hours only to learn that our insurance won't cover wisdom teeth removal at my daughter's age...I didn't have time to finish some of the other things I've got going.  It was so nice outside today too, perfect for spray painting! Oh well, maybe tomorrow!

These pillows  are "copy-cat" but since they are my first attempts at something PB inspired, . I thought I'd share over at Cottage Instincts .  Check out her party for some more inspiring ideas!
